In a rustic setting, Antica Osteria Croce Bianca has a simple, yet sophisticated atmosphere thanks to a young woman who has made her dreams come true here. Closely linked to local traditions, the cuisine seeks to use the best ingredients available in the area. There’s a particular focus on cold cuts, their curing and the preparation of typical dishes using old recipes handed down from past generations, which are served alongside new dishes offering alternative flavours; a touch of creativity to tempt those who want to experiment with new combinations, whilst still focusing on simple and seasonal menus. As well as pisarei e fäso (pasta and beans) there’s also burrata-filled pasta parcels with salmon and candied orange and small potato and chestnut dumplings with chanterelle mushrooms and bresaola. Main courses include sliced grilled beef with potato croquettes and prawns wrapped in pancetta and sautéed with creamy chick pea and rosemary sauce. Desserts include honey and cinnamon semifreddo with peach sauce and soft pear and chocolate pie with toffee sauce and balsamic vinegar. The wines on offer come from a meticulous search for non-commercial products with labels by small local producers, alongside other more famous and better-known ones. The restaurant also offers a good selection of artisan beers, which are accompanied by details that should help customers make their choice. The desire to offer wholesome and genuine flavours – from warm bread to hand-made bread sticks, from homemade egg pasta through to desserts prepared according to tradition – inspires the chef, Elisa, who invites customers to spend an evening in good company, savouring her culinary creations, accompanied by a glass of good wine. <<<
