The Baita d’oro is situated 1,000 metres above sea level on a promontory that borders with the Tosco-Emiliano National Park. The restaurant offers splendid views of the famous Pietra di Bismantova and is an ideal gateway for excursions into the Apennines near Reggio. Traditional home cooking, a warm welcome, professionalism and courtesy are the main characteristics and hallmarks of the restaurant, which is run by the Corbelli family. The restaurant offers a selection of first courses that include potato and pumpkin-filled tortelli, risotto with ossobuco (veal shank bone), green tortelli and pasta with beans. Main courses include freshwater trout, wild boar, grilled meat and game. There are also several mushroom dishes, from traditional tagliatelle to Caesar’s mushroom salad, from fried or grilled Porcini mushrooms to Porcini soup and even gnocchi with black truffle. White truffle dishes are another speciality: eggs, cutlets, tagliatelle and risotto are all prepared with this precious tuber. Like the pasta, all desserts are homemade. There is also a good selection of wines with around 120 labels listed. <<<
