La Traviata restaurant is in Bologna, a stone’s throw from central Piazza Maggiore, housed in a building typical of 17th-century local architecture. It has a characteristically welcoming interior with a warm and friendly atmosphere, vaulted ceilings, old wooden flooring, cane chairs, copper pans and photographs hanging on the walls. The owner can always be found in the dining room, providing guests with excellent recommendations, whereas when it comes to the choice of wines, Antonio and Christian can suggest those that best accompany the menus of the day. These change daily and are always written on a small blackboard near the entrance. Alongside the ever-present traditional dishes typical of local cuisine, the restaurant also serves a selection of innovative and creative dishes prepared using fresh seasonal ingredients. Worth mentioning, in particular, are the house antipasto, consisting of a selection of cured meats, fried flatbread and fried vegetables, and first courses made using fresh pasta, which is exclusively homemade according to the traditions of yesteryear. Main courses (such as Bolognese cutlet, roast suckling pork and rabbit) and desserts are also homemade (like zuppa inglese, tiramisu and mascarpone cream) and second to none. All rooms are air-conditioned and in summer, guests can eat at one of the tables set up under the porticoes of historical Via Urbana. <<<
