The Osteria delle Sabbie 1731 owes its name to the historical route of the Rhine in Mirabello that year and is situated close to Le Pradine natural oasis. The dishes served here use carefully selected products, as it lives and works in synergy with the farm each day. It is sombre and elegant, with a loft that is ideal for intimate dinners or meetings. The place settings are simple, but tasteful. The restaurant prides itself on a peculiarity, the ancient condiment of Cristoforo da Messisbugo (acetified saba or grape must), chef at the court of the Estense family, which is used in many dishes. As well as the smiling face of Vinicio, friendly master of the dining room, the restaurant offers cuisine based on the best popular traditions, skilfully revisited by the chef Davide. Homemade pasta dishes include pumpkin-filled cappellacci with meat sauce, “paglia e fieno” and cappelletti cooked in capon broth and there’s also excellent pumpkin risotto. The meats served have all been carefully chosen with main courses that include assorted grilled pork meats, shin, mutton, thinly-sliced beef, fillet beef and T-bone steak. All fresh or grilled side dishes are locally-sourced and homemade desserts include mascarpone semifreddo and the famous Torta Tenerina. <<<
