In the truest and most traditional style, this trattoria-inn is in the heart of the old town of Cesena and the atmosphere is decidedly nineteenth-century and the counter at the entrance and other furniture are original. The owners are Rocco Angarola, who prepares the meals, and Johanna, who warmly welcomes customers. The cuisine expresses the territory with a perfect balance between old recipes, new elaborations and the chef’s personal touch. Appetizers include frittata with bladder campion or artichokes with olives, canapés topped with seasonal vegetables or bruciatino con casatella, served with chocolate flavoured with Cervia salt. Mainly vegetable-based, the first courses are tasty and light and include tagliolini with green chicory, wild rice with seasonal vegetables, spelt macaroni with aubergine sauce and cappellacci with sweet peppers and salted Ricotta cheese. There’s also grilled livers with bay leaves wrapped in netting, roast sucking pork-style free-range rabbit and tripe. To round of a meal there’s a selection of cheeses or traditional zuppa inglese, baked cream, honey bread or spelt cake with fruit jam. The wine list includes the best local labels, as well as a carefully-chosen selection of national wines. The Osteria Michiletta is a welcoming restaurant where customers can embark on a fascinating journey to discover the resources and secrets of local food and wine traditions.
