The restaurant is in Roteglia di Castellarano in the sixteenth-century borough of “Casa Maffei”, which has recently been ably renovated by skilled artisans. The venue is tastefully furnished with great attention to detail, in order to guarantee the best welcome to those who stop here to savour the characteristic specialities. In fact, thanks to twenty years’ experience in the field and a close relationship with their loyal customers, the owners Natale and Tina serve the quality dishes that have made them famous and extremely popular. The dishes are mainly those typical of the territory near Reggio Emilia, such as rice timbale with Porcini mushrooms, lamb chops and typical grilled lamb steaks called barzigole. All pasta is homemade, according to local tradition. When in season, specialities include dishes with truffle (white truffle found local, second season from Alba, San Miniato Toscana, Nero Pregiato or Scorzone black truffle all year round) and fresh mushrooms (fried breaded Porcini, Porcini baked in parchment paper, grilled caps). Main courses include tagliata and T-bone steak or traditional braised and roast meats and mutton. All desserts are homemade. A good wine list is available for dinner at the restaurant or in the cellar in the basement where customers can taste wines, order snacks and from autumn onwards, listen to good music. <<<
