A few minutes from the main roads, halfway between Forlì and Cesena, in the gently rolling hills of Romagna, just below Bertinoro is the Ristorante Trattoria Albergo Mingaren, which offers typical local cuisine, prepared using products from the nearby area and rigorously “homemade” as it once was, in full respect of the old traditions of Romagna.
Everything began one summer about 40 years ago when Domenico Casali, know by the villagers as “Minghin ad Mingaren”, and his wife Ida had the idea of cooking piadina on their doorstep. In the beginning they had a small wooden chopping board and a terracotta dish heated by coal, to which they added a couple of chairs and a table, which their customers had asked so they could savour their piadina accompanied by a good glass of local wine, which was also produced by Domenico.
Slowly they added another table and then another, then a room and then a kitchen: the Trattoria Mingaren was born. Over the years, the trattoria has adapted to the needs of its customers, whilst still rigorously respecting the local traditions of Romagna. All first courses are handmade, the meats are grilled over a wood fire, the potatoes fried in a frying pan, the desserts always handmade and the salamis and cold cuts are carefully selected in order to ensure customers always enjoy the best there is to offer.
In this corner of Romagna, the Trattoria Mingaren, run by Angelo and Anna, is the ideal place to relax and savour a good meal at lunch or dinner, alone or in good company. The premises are welcoming and well-decorated and customers can even stay here; hospitality is guaranteed.
